[edit] Biography
Peter Sheahan has built a successful consulting career specializing in understanding “Generation Y” (the upwardly mobile generation born between 1978 and 1994), workforce trends and corporate change. His multi-million dollar consulting practice is only around 3-years old, but has already generated an impressive list of clients including Newscorp, Google, Coca-Cola, L’Oreal and Ernst & Young.
Sheahan’s corporate consulting focuses on identifying areas of untapped potential, empowering employees, and giving customer’s what they want. Sheahan believes brands trying to reach the 16-30 market could save money and effort by getting “real”.
"Stop trying to figure out how to bullshit your way into a market that has a BS-detector on their head," Sheahan says. "Stop trying to trick an over-stimulated, heavily marketed-to generation and start being genuine and authentic in the first place. If you deliver an original, quality product, that will get people talking and it will end up marketing itself."
Sheahan, who is 28-years old and a Gen Y-er himself, helps managers of all ages understand the generation that is currently “the most influential consumer and employee group in the world”. Sheahan aims to help companies understand “the mindsets that drive their behavior so you can better attract, manage and engage this generation both as customers and as staff.”
Sheahan is also recognized as a talented speaker. In 2006 he was voted by his peers at the National Speakers Association as Keynote Speaker of the Year for Australia. Sheahan, who lives in Sydney Australia, has delivered thousands of presentations to large groups in six different countries. He has also authored several books, including the bestseller Generation Y: Thriving (and Surviving) with Generation Y at Work and of course his latest book Flip!: How to Turn Everything On It’s Head—and Succeed Beyond Your Wildest Imaginings.
